This is a 1-day hike from Chengdu.

Longwozi is the official name, it is translated as Dragon Cave. Wherever the water/stream comes, go upstream and look for its source, is where the dragon lives. Water is usually related to dragon, and mountain is sometimes related to tiger: these two animals usually come together at many occasions. Therefore, Dragon Cave has a stream.

The valley of where Dragon Cave is still at the lower range of mountains in Longmenshan. The highest of its ridges are at around 1500 meters and bottom of the valley is at below 1000 meters. The stream is not big even in June, making it perfect to step in and play. But at some sections there are big falls of water and deep ponds that look very much bathable. Although bathing is publicly not allowed since the water here is used for drinking.

The walking starts by the base from the water processing unit following the stairs and rise up alongside the stream. Mountains are very green. This walk is in and out for about total 10km. Though you can upgrade it by walking to either north or south for another 5 to 8 km and over a mountain ridge to do a circuit hike. But circuit hike involves walking up on steeper and muddy terrain and it takes longer time.
