This is a 1-day hike from Chengdu.

Valley of Crouching Dragon, is the name of the valley. It is located in Pengzhou, a place north to city of Chengdu with around 1.5 hours' drive to get to. Pengzhou in general is half mountain half plain, thus many rivers running down and many cool places where you see mountains rise up from low to high.

The road goes into the village is small but fine. Trees are everywhere and it's all green. Local families have all developed business to cater visitors from the cities, either running restaurants or offering accommodations services. So this makes a 2-day trip possible that if you want to take your time and enjoy the mountain air here.

Valley of Crouching Dragon, Panlonggu, is where the waterfalls are located and also what people come to see. There are two main waterfalls by the end of the valley where you can walk to. It is around 1km from road head. The bigger waterfall is at least 50 meters above and the small one is very small but also interesting. The walking path is fine but a bit rocky. Despite many people come to take photos of and with the waterfall and many people just have fun in the not-so-deep water, that it makes this place a bit crowded but still worth to see. The way back is the same way when walking in.

If this 1km+1km is not enough walk that makes you happy then the forest near Zhongba Village will possibly do. The village itself is located by the foot of a dense forest and there are trails around and above the village that leads to the pine forest. You can walk around 4km to 8km total either in and out or do a circuit hike through village and forest.

The waterfall place and the nearby forest is just a small part of beautiful Pengzhou. There are a lot to be explored.
