Moska is a village located 80km north to the town of Danba. It is a village that has gain fame due to the chubby and fluffy marmots and the beautiful highland lakes. Moska is a good place to do some wild hiking if you want to avoid the crowds although in summer time you may still see many people there in the village, feeding the marmot.
The drive into the village is a long drive. Even though only 80km but it will take total 2.5h if not longer and in summer (June to August) it has a chance of landslides. The road is a very small road comparing to many other roads in Danba. Due to the long drive we recommend you to spend one night in the village in one of the basic hostels in Moska village. You may also do camping by the village.
The hiking to the lake is a challenging hiking in one day from Moska. Total walking 16km from 4000m to 4500m and back. This hike provides you another chance of seeing different landscape from gorges and villages, rivers and mountains. This day hike brings you to higher places with greater views of the mountains and two highland lakes at over 4000 meters. Walking starts from Moska village and comes back the same way ascending for 500m and descending for another 500m. You will need a guide to do this hike.
