While traveling to Danba you need to know what you can plan to visit and what you can skip according to your style and time of visit. Driving to Danba

Usually Danba is for a short visit. Danba locates between Mount Siguniang and Kangding. Normally one night is good. You can do a 2-hour hiking in the village to see its houses and people. Normally you are recommended to stay in one of the villages but if you wish to have better standard of accommodations you can find good hotels in the town of Danba. The drive from the town of Danba to the village is within half an hour. There are roads into the villages now, which makes your visit very easy. For photograph lovers, you may consider to stay in the village for 2 nights to have better chance of good weather by evening and morning to take good photos.

Zhonglu or Jiaju?

When we talk about Tibetan villages in Danba, it usually indicates Zhonglu or Jiaju, which are two big and beautiful Tibetan villages open to travelers. But which one should you choose? Should one visit both or just one? Zhonglu is as similar size as Jiaju. Zhonglu is less popular among tourists so it usually has fewer visitors than Jiaju relatively. Jiaju is the first village that was open for visitors so it has accumulated reputation among travelers long ago. Both villages are beautiful and both villages take similar time to get to from the town and takes similar time to visit. So if you want to see famous village you go to Jiaju, if you want to have more authenticity you go to Zhonglu. Only one problem is Zhonglu is getting popular and popular now.
