Daocheng Yading is getting popular as a hiking place in China. Listed below are suggestions of packing list for hiking and trekking activities in Daocheng Yading.
A. Weather changes quickly due to the high altitude. It can be rainy and sunny on the same day. It can be sunny and rainy even at the same time because the weather changes fast. Waterproof is necessary. Please do keep rainproof with you all the time.
B. Temperature changes quickly. In the morning and at night temperature drops to the lowest and during daytime the temperaure reaches the highest. The temperature difference of daytime and nighttime is up to 20C or even higher. Temperature difference is also shown while in the sun and in the shed.Temperature changes quickly when weather changes quickly especailly in Spring, Summer and Autumn seasons. Please do keep your warm clothes with you all the time. This is essential because loss of body temperature is critical. Even if it is a 10-minute or 20-minute time, your body may suffer without warm clothing if temperature changes.
C. Daocheng Yading is with less oxygeon and usually windy. Keep yourself hydrated all the time is a very good way for acclimatization and to keep yourself healthy. Normally it is recommended to drink more water than usual while traveling in Daocheng Yading. Make sure you have drinking water with you all the time.
The above three things are the necessary things we always recommend travelers to keep in handy, weather you are doing a short hiking, a short visit or even just leaving your hotel looking for restaurant. Please note the entrance of Yading at Riwa is at 2800m, in summer it even feels warm and this is deceiving as most of the places inside Yading Park is at over 4000 meters, which is a big difference there.
Listed below is the most detailed packing list of a Daocheng Yading Camping Trek. There are some definitely important items that maybe neglected including walking boots, waterproof and sunglasses. You will definitely need a high-cut or at least a middle-cut walking boots to do this trip. Waterproof is necessary. The shoe rims do not just protect your feet getting wet they also protect your ankles. You will also need the rainproof for sure. Whether it's raincoat or umbrella. And also for your gears, the dry bags are very useful and the rain cover over your pack is also necessary to keep things dry.
