Daocheng County (Daocheng Xian)

Daocheng is located outside of Yading Park.

Daocheng is a different place of Yading. Yading Nature Reserve (Yading Park) is within the precinct of Daocheng Xian but still an 80-km away from the town of Daocheng. The general "Daocheng Yading" refers to Yading Nature Reserve but not Daocheng Xian. Travelers going to Yading will inevitable pass Daocheng either by driving or by flying. Daocheng is a county level town in China and has hospital, shops and decent hotels, etc. While Yading (Shangrila Town) is a much smaller town.

Daocheng County is located on the southwestern edge of Sichuan Province, China, south of Ganzi Prefecture. It is located in the southeast of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and east of the Hengduan Mountains. It belongs to Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Kham Tibetan Area. The Pricinct of Daocheng County is 27°58'?29°30' north latitude, 99°56'?100°36' east longitude, 174 kilometers long from north to south, 63 kilometers wide from east to west, east to Jiulong County, and west to Xiangcheng County. It is connected to Litang County in the north, bordering Muli Tibetan Autonomous County in the south, and adjacent to the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan Province in the southwest.

Daocheng County's Daocheng Shangri-La Eco-tourism Area has Yading as the core area brings together magnificent landscapes such as snow mountains, glaciers, lakes, grasslands and waterfalls. It is known as the "Soul of Chinese Shangri-La" and "the last pure land on the blue planet".

The main attractions of Daocheng Yading are: Yading Nature Reserve, Rewu Temple, Xingyi Lake, Mengzi Grand Canyon, Dongyi River, Echushan, etc.
