Yading Village is located within the Park of Yading.
The village of Yading is 34 kilometers away from the town of Shangri-La (Riwa or Xianggelila Zhen). The Yading Nature Reserve is named after the village. It is known as the “last Shangri-La”. The small village is hidden between the snow-capped mountains and the forest. It has guesthouses and lodges for people to stay overnight and are suually crowded.
The village is located on the terrace of the mountainside before arrive into the Yading Core Area. The presence of such a terrace in the canyon gives people a feeling of being separated. At the end of the valley, the snowy peaks of Chenrezig look like a few strokes of sketches.
There are 28 households in the village. The layout of each house is very random, but it seems that they have been carefully designed by the masters and coordinated with nature. No matter what season, these ridges are an indispensable part of the village.
Known as the "last Shangri-La", Yading Village is 3,900 meters above sea level. The village has 2 villager groups. The total number of households is 28. Yading in Tibetan language means "the land of the sun", which is named after the long sunshine they have. The village of Yading is located in the valley, and two streams merge into one at Longtongba.
Yading Gorge, from Kanggu in the north, passes through Yading Village, south to Luorong Yak Ranch, with an altitude of 2800-4200 meters. The maximum depth of the valley is 1500 meters and the valley is 25 kilometers long.
