Dujiangyan Old Town

Dujiangyan has an old part of the town that is next to the irrigation of the park of Dujiangyan itself. It is worth to walk through the small town with its rebuilt old style houses and city gates after the 2008 earthquake. Dujiangyan Old Town is a good add-on to do for half an hour or one hour, even if you are just visiting the irrigation park. Dujiangyan is also a very pleasant place to stay one night in while you are traveling in Chengdu. Dujiangyan is a “small” city in China standard, but it has a population of at least a quarter million with good hotels and clean restaurants due to the development of tourism mainly of Dujiangyan Irrigation Park and Qingcheng Taoist Mountain. Dujiangyan is also the stopover place for any further trips to Jiuzhaigou or Siguniang in the north or west of Sichuan. .

Nanqiao Bridge

Nanqiao or Nan Bridge is just next to the east entrance of Dujiangyan Irrigation Park. It is a roofed bridge over the Inner River of Minjiang, the first bridge over the mother river of Chengdu. From Nanqiao it starts the old town of Dujiangyan and starts the streets full of local food.

Night Market

If you stay one night by the city of Dujiangyan, you don’t want to miss out the night markets of Dujiangyan. It is small, but it has a lot of local food to offer to you. The air is usually fresh because of the mountains and the rivers. Even in summer, you will feel the breeze and cool temperature. You may find lots of local street food after 5pm every day in the Yangliu Street of Dujiangyan Old Town.

Panda Selfie Statue

There is a 26-m long panda statue lying on the ground taking a selfie in Dujiangyan just outside the Dujiangyan Old Town Xuanhua Gate. It has become a popular place for visitors. It is in an open park in the center of the city and within walking distance from the old town.
