How to Get to Emeishan Mountain (Mount Emei)

The nearest airport to Emei Mountain Scenic Area is Chengdu Shuangliu Airport, only 120 kilometers away. In addition, there are Mianyang, Chongqing Airport, etc. There are many domestic and international flights every day.

Chengdu Shuangliu Airport has opened the Shuangliu Airport High-speed Railway Station, which is very convenient to take the Intercity High Speed Train to the Emeishan Station and get off at 10 minutes to reach the scenic spot. If you can't catch the high-speed rail, you can also take the civil aviation bus, bus or get to Chengdu Xinnanmen station, and then transfer to the tourist bus to get to Emeishan.

By Train

There are two railway stations in Emeishan City, one is the old Emei Station, and the other is the newly opened Emeishan Station. At present, the most convenient way to go to Emei Mountain from outside Sichuan Province is to take a high-speed train from Chengdu (ie Chengmian Intercity Train, C-trains);You can also get from Xinjin, Pengshan, Meizhou, Leshan and other places in Sichuan Province to take the high-speed train to Emeishan.

By Bus

From 8am to 6pm each day from Chengdu (Xinnanmen Bus Station, Chengdu East Railway Bus Station) there are many scheduled buses between Chengdu and Emei. You will see more buses departing Xinnanmen Bus Station. It takes around 2 hours from Chengdu to Emei. Depending on your schedule, you may arrive by different stations in Emei but there is always ways to get to Mt. Emei either by taxi, or shared-taxi which are usually avialable.

Self-driving

Departing from Chengdu

The most convenient route: Chengdu - Leshan - Emei Pengqiao (full speed) - Emei Mountain Scenic Area. The journey takes approximately 212 kilometers ( 1.5 hours).

Departing from Chongqing

The shortest route: Chongqing - (167 km) (Chengyu Expressway) Neijiang - (50 km) (Neiyi Expressway) Zigong (Jinyin Lake) - (116 km) (Lezi Expressway) Leshan - (20 km) (Cheng Ya High speed) Emeishan. The whole journey is 353 kilometers (3.5 hours).

By Ship

Emeishan City is not connected directly transport waterway, but it is only 30km away from Leshan City, which is connected to the waterway. Leshan is located at the intersection of Minjiang River and Dadu River, and has passenger ships to Yibin, Zhangzhou and Chongqing. You can take the passenger ferry to Leshan City and then transfer to Emeishan City.

From Emei Back to Chengdu by Bus

From 7am to 5pm everyday there are scheduled bus departing by Jiuzhu Bus Station of Emei back to Chengdu, almost every hour there is one scheduled bus. It costs around 60 yuan and will take around 2 hours. It arrives by Xinnanmen Bus Station in Chengdu. Note Jiuzhu Bus Station in Emei is around 10km from the base of Mt. Emei. You may need to use a taxi or bus to get to from the tourist cener of Emei.
