Baoguo Temple is located at the foot of Mount Emei, with an altitude of 551 meters. It is the first temple of Mount Emei, the site of Emei Buddhist Association, and the center of Emei Buddhist activities. Among the many temples in Emei Mountain, Baoguo temple is the gateway to Mount Emei and the starting point for you to visit Mount Emei. The temple is surrounded by Nanshu trees, surrounded by red walls, and the grand hall is full of splendor. The smoke is curling and the chimes are heard frequently. The temple sits West to East, facing the rising sun, looking like a beautiful, auspicious Golden Phoenix. In front of the temple gate, there is a pair of stone lions carved in the Ming Dynasty. They are vivid, powerful and majestic, just like the left and right guards guarding this sacred Buddhist temple. On the gate of the mountain: "Baoguo Temple" plaque is inscribed by Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty and written by Yu fan. The main hall is hung with a plaque of "solemn and dignified treasure". The couplet on the pillars on both sides of the Mountain Gate says, "the Phoenix spreads its wings to the golden palace, and the bells and chimes hear the falling jade steps." It is a vivid description of the scenery around Baoguo temple. The horizontal plaque "Pu Zhao Chan Lin" and "Pu Fang Guang Ming" have the same meaning: Buddhism calls Mount Emei "Da Guang Ming Shan", literally meaning Great Mountain of Brightness. There are magical Buddha lights in the day, thousands of sacred lamps come to the court at night, and the whole Mount Emei is illuminated by light. On the right, "crane in the clouds" means that the crane stops and the clouds return to the mountains and hills. It refers to the cool and quiet place with Taoist charm. The couplet on the gate: "think alone, speak the way, sit down and say scriptures." The former means to understand the truth of the Buddhist scriptures by one's own thinking, which is the realm of "independent consciousness" in Buddhism. The last sentence is to say that the great virtue of the eminent monk has laid the Dharma seat and preached to his disciples
