Genyen travel season

The best time to visit Genyen is from May to October.

Spring is from February to May when normally the snow will melt up on the mountain tops. July and August are the raining seasons, with the average temperature range from 20 °C (65 °F) and 28 °C (83 °F) during daytime. Autumn comes at early September. Winter came by November and will last until the next early February/March. Weather changes quickly in summer. In May, June, September and October, it may rain less but colder during nighttime, sometimes below 0C or even below -5C. In July and August it may rain a little more but it’s less cold during nighttime. Travelers visiting Genyen in spring time have the risk of stucking there due to heavy snows.

Travel to Genyen, the best time are August, September and October. However, to have better weather or better chances of good weather, May, October will usually be a better option. But to see the good green mountain views, July and August are a better option. It’s not guaranteed that one will have good weather here because the weather changes quickly here.

The horse racing festival in Litang is usually held in August every year. Due to political reasons this festival has been suspended for years now, but we often see local villages around Litang having this celebration by themselves on a smaller scale during August.
