Tai Shan Mated Naturally and Successfully

Latest news On April 15 from China Conservation & Research Center for the Giant Panda that the famous panda start Tai Shan who used to live in USA had mated with a female panda in Bifengxia Panda Base. The mating lasted for 2 minutes and 6 seconds as Tai Shan’s first time natural mating after he returned back to China in 2010.

Giant Panda experts said that they are now busy with inspiring adult pandas to mate because April and May are best month for mating. They arrange Tai Shan to stay with a rutting female panda Wen Yu who seemed to have a crash on Tai Shan. At the beginning, Tai Shan didn’t show interest in Wen Yu, but he gradually accepted Wen Yu’s love after a constant courtship display from Wen Yu.

Tai Shan used to live in America

Tai Shan is a super star in panda family. He was born in Washington Zoo on July 9, 2005. He returned back to all panda’s hometown Sichuan on February 5, 2010, and then lived in Yaan Bifengxia Panda Base. Since 2014, Tai Shan has been living in Dujiangyan Panda Base. But you may don’t know that in the early period after Tai Shan came back to China, he had trouble with digestive system which cause him be thin and weak. The base conducted special care program to cure, which worked out very well. During past 6 years, the weight of Tai Shan has increased to 107kg from 90kg. The digestive system is now also very healthy. So Tai Shan was added to breeding plan of 2016. After several special training, Tai Shan was transferred to Bifengxia Base to mate with Wen Yu. And Tai Shan didn’t let us down. He finished the mating very successfully.

Tai Shan is very health and energetic now
