Moxi Town is located in the south of Luding County, Ganzi Prefecture, on the east slope of Gongga Mountains at the entrance of Hailuogou Glacier Park. Moxi Town is about 304 kilometers away from Chengdu, 52 kilometers away from Luding, and about 70 kilometers away from Kangding. The road from Moxi to Kangding is now completed, called Yumo Road. Now Moxi has become a tourist place at the base of Hailuogou Galcier Park.
Moxi Town is a place where Han, Yi, and Tibetan people live together. The farmhouse with the architectural style of the Qing Dynasty consists of a water mill and an irrigation system connected in series by a gravity irrigation channels. Their living habits, language and culture are becoming more and more the same. "Moxi" is an ancient Qiang language meaning "treasure land".
The Catholic church in Moxi is a Gothic church built by a French missionary. In 1935, 20,000 Red Army came here led by Maozedong and made a significant decision here.
