Hailuogou Travel Planning

To visit Hailuogou Galcier Park. A good way is to connect the visit with other place including Mugetso, Tagong and so on to do a multiday Western Sichuan Circuit Tour in 5 to 7 days. From Hailuogou to Kangding it is only 1 to 1.5 hours' drive and there plenty of things to do and to see around Kangding.

Although Hailuogou itself is also a good weekend place from Chengdu. You can do it in 2 days, here is any example of a 2-day plan:

Day 01 Chengdu - Yaan Tea Plantation - Hailuogou/ hot spring after dinner

Tour starts from Chengdu and after 1.5h's drive we get to Ya'an tea plantation where we walk in the tea fields and learn the tradition of tea-making and wonder through the tea fields for about 2 hours before lunch. Optional tea-collecting if in the right season. After worth drive for another 2-3 hours to arrive Hailuogou Galcier Park by Moxi and check in hotel. Visit the local Catholic church and former Red Army station before dinner. Optional hot spring after worth.

Day 02 Hailuogou Park Hiking - Chengdu

Start by 8am and visit Hailuogou Glacier Park from the base by using tourist bus riding for about 40 minutes to get to near Camp 3. Walk from Grass Pond to Camp 3 and use cable car to get to Camp 4 to see the grand ice fall of Minya Konka before come back to Camp 3 and optional walking to see the Glacier. After worth use bus to get back to the base no later than 2.30pm and drive back to Chengdu. Tour ends.
