As a world natural heritage, Huanglong National Park is a national AAAAA-level tourist area, and it is a popular tourist destination for many Chinese and foreign tourists. However, the national park is located more than 3,000 meters above sea level, which is one of the highest tourist areas in China. Before the Huanglong cableway was built, tourists had to hike a length of about 4.2 kilometers and a height difference of nearly 500 meters to visit the park. The round-trip time took up to about 4 hours. After the opening of the Huanglong cableway in August 2006, it has provided convenience to many tourists. Using the cable car, visitors can enjoy the scenery of the primitive forest leisurely and overlook the panorama of Huanglonggou with a new perspective as well as save a lot of time and energy.
For the first time to visit the Huanglong National Park, tourists will always be caught in the trouble of taking the cable car or not: considering that walking up and down the mountain can enjoy the beauty of Huanglong, but physical strength is difficult to support; taking the cable car can save physical strength and time, but must give up some of the beautiful scenery. Actually you can choose to use one way cableway and walk the rest part.
The height difference of Huanglong cableway is 487.8m, the running length is 994.1m, and the altitude is about 3100-3800 meters. The cable car can take 6 people and the average running speed is 6m / s. It only takes about 3 minutes to go from the lower station to the upper station.

It is recommended to take the cable car up the mountain, and then sightee and hike down the mountain, which can also save a lot of energy and time. Even during the peak tourist season, only about 5 minutes are needed to get to top area of the national park by cable car. If you choose to hike up, you will spend at least 2 hours. After the upper cableway station, you can then walk along the flat sidewalk for 2.9km to visit the famous Five-color Pond and Huanglong Temple, then walk down the valley to enjoy the travertine landscapes and waterfalls and exit the valley from Wuyuan Bridge, which takes only about 2 hours.
