Jiuzhaigou Hongyuan Grassland(Summer)/ Dagu Glacier(Winter) + Bipenggou Tour

This is a gound tour. Some days involve long hours of driving and sitting in the car. Please make preparation in accordance including power bank for your phone, neck pillow, etc while driving. Please remember to have a day pack with you to take necessary items for each day's visit, sometimes including packed lunch or snacks for yourself, drinking water recommended 1L minimum, sunglasses, rainproof, warm-keeping clothes and hat, sun block and lip oil, etc. It is also wise to bring rainproof and warm clothes with you all the time while visiting.

Your guide will meet you at your hotel in the morning we will start our Jiuzhaigou tour from Chengdu by a private vehicle. After 1.5 hours driving arrive at Dujiangyan Panda Park and go to see the lovely pandas. This excursion visit is flexible if you wish to switch it to some other place of interests. After the visit continue drive into the mountains where you will have good views of the traditional Qiang area after Wenchuan. We will stop for lunch on halfway. In the after we will keep driving in Minjiang River Valley. Before arrive in our hotel at Chuanzhusi we will first make a stop by Songpan Old Town to have a short break. Chuanzhusi is a small tourist town on the way to Jiuzhaigou near Huanglong.

Total driving around 6-7 hours, visiting 2h, medium pace

Overnight hotel by around 3000m

Today we will go to visit Huanglong Park. Start by a 30-minutes’ drive from hotel in Chuanzhusi and arrive at Huanglong Park. Huanglong Park is a series of stunning calcium lakes at elevation of over 3000 meters. You are recommended to use the cable car for at least one way (usually to go up) and there is necessary walking involved. Be careful while walking in the park since the altitude is at around 3000m and with less oxygen. There is a 2-3 hours of walking over 2500+ meters involved while visiting this park. The walk will be on well-maintained boardwalk all the way down along the lakes. The visit is around 4-5 hours total so we don't have to rush through the park but rather enjoy and take photos along the way down. For people who don't wish to walk one can use the cable way for both ways and from the cable car terminal now there is a transit car available to save all the walking to the higher lakes by Huanglong.

After the visit, we will continue by driving to Jiuzhaigou in afternoon for around 2-3 hours. Along the way we will pass Gami Temple where if available we will make a stop to have a quick look in the village. After arrival check in to hotel and feel free to wonder around the town of Jiuzhaigou.

Today is a full day sightseeing in the Jiuzhaigou. Jiuzhaigou has won many brilliant reputations, such as World Natural Heritage Sites, 5A National Park, and Best Waterscape in China. Today, you will found out all the reputations worthy any of them. Water is the soul of Jiuzhaigou, and there are more than 108 lakes, several large groups of waterfall scattering on three valleys shaping a large “Y”. The wild forest and pure high snow mountains are the best setoffs to the waterscape of Jiuzhaigou. We will see streams flowing quietly among valleys, beautiful waterfalls dropping from high mountains, and colorful lakes with amazing reflection of colorful forest. Today you will be fully-guided through your visit to Jiuzhaigou.

The three valleys of Jiuzhaigou are Rize Valley, Zezhawa Valley and Shuzheng Valley. Entrance of Jiuzhaigou Park is by the north of Shuzheng Valley and then it splits into Rize and Zezhawa by Nuorilang Waterfall. Rize Valley is home to many beautiful lakes including Grass Lake, Swan Lake, Arrow Bamboo Lake and waterfall, Panda Lake and waterfall, Five Flower Lake, Golden Bell Lake, Pearl Shoal Waterfall and Mirror Lake. Rize Valley takes normally around 2-3 hours to see its full beauty and total 8km if hiking. Zezhawa Valley is home to the famous Long Lake and Five-colored Lake. Zechawa Valley is actually the longest valley of Jiuzhaigou yet it has the fewest lakes and Long Lake and 5-colored Lake are the only two lakes open and normally it takes around 2 hours to see this valley. Shuzheng Valley is home to Nuorilang Waterfall, Rhino Lake, Tiger Lake, Shuzheng Waterfall, Shuzheng Village, Shuzheng Lakes, Huohua Lake, Reed Lake and Bonsai Shoal. It normally takes around 3-4 hours, 10km if walking to see all lakes in Shuzheng Valley.

After the sightseeing, drive back to your hotel, and take a good rest.

Today we will drive to Zoige to continue visit the part of nomads Tibetan on Zoige Grassland, a completely different landscape as that of Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong. After around 4 hours driving over Galitai Pass and onto Zoige Grassland, we will have our first glimpse of the vast rolling lands of grass where local nomads people herd yaks and sheeps in Zoige. We will have a visit to Waqie Stupas. Waqie is the name of the village where the stupa towers are located, it means Big Tent. Waqie has a stupa in memory of the 10th Banchan Renphche. These stupas are surrounded by a lot of prayer flags.

After a short visit we will continue drive for around 1 hours on the vast and open Zoige/Hongyuan Grassland to Tangke at the 9 bends of Yellow River in Zoige. The 9-bends of Yellow River, sometimes translated as the first bend of Yellow River. The bend is believed to be the first bend of Yellow River and it is in the heart land of Zoige Grassland. The bending of the river attracts lots of photographers to come here to wait for the best shots. After arrival we will first have lunch before check in to the park. We will walk up the boardwalk stairs to go higher to gain more open views of the bends of the river. Photo lovers may consider to spend more time here as it is not a very tight schedule of this tour for today.

After watching the sunset by 1st Bend of Yellow River, we will go to check in to hotel.

Today is a full day drive from Hongyuan Grassland to Bipenggou. In the morning we will be driving on the vast gassland of Hongyuan and you have more chances to stop and take photos of where you like to make stop. We will have a visit to the Maiwa Monastery. Maiwa Monastery is a Nymapa Monastery in Hongyuan. It is a big village of temples, stupas and monk houses. It is also a Buddhist school, one of the biggest in this park of Sichuan. Maiwa Monastery only had fixed location until recent times before which it was called a "nomadic monastery" that moves with the founders as they travel. It is a very big place to walk through and see the huge stupa and monastery. .

Afterwards we will continue driving to Bipenggou and check in to hotel.

Today is a full day drive for around 6-7 hours from Jiuzhaigou to Dagu Glacier to cover the great distance.

Today is a full day visiting Dagu Glacier Park. It is a well-built park.Dagu Glacier Park is a park of nature including glacier, wild animals, lakes, mountains and forest. Dagu is Tibetan: Da means glacier, Gu means deep valley, Dagu means "Glacier in Deep Valley". Dagu Glacier is thought to be hidden in the deep mountains before this park was set up. Glacier No.2 has a glacier cave. Glacier No.1 and No. 2 are connected and extend all the way to the right side of Dagu Mountain. The 4860 view platform is where visitors can get to by cable cars. This location provides very beautiful views of the mountains and glaciers. Its elevation is high at 4860m, almost by the top of mountains. We will spend a big half day's time by Dagu Glacier.

Afterwards we will continue driving to Bipenggou and check in to hotel.

Today is a full day visit to Bipenggou Park. We will first start by a short drive for around 5 minutes and check in to the park. We will first use the park bus to get to the higher part of the valley before we start to either walk or use the golf car inside the park to tour the upper valley of Bipeng. Bipenggou is a very popular tourist attraction in Sichuan all year round. It is famous for its beautiful natural views including wild forests, mountains, waterfalls, and lakes. Mountains in Bipeng is part of the greater Qionglaishan Range located by the north of the Siguniang Mountains. The valley of Bipeng is located exactly the north of Changping Valley of Siguniang. In Bipeng we can see mountains including Mt. Dahuang and its side peaks, Mt. Banji, the popular 5000er that many people come to climb each year, Mt. Lion, Mt. Yangmantai the pyramid-looking peak in Bipeng, Mt. Jiangjun and Mt. Longya, and at higher part of the valley Mt. Huangguan and Mt. Yutu. We will spend 5-6 hours inside the park. Afterwards drive back to Chengdu.
