Leshan has formed a variety of climate types under specific geographical conditions. Because the area is near 29° north latitude, the city is a subtropical climate zone with four distinct seasons. The rainfall is abundant, the water and heat are in the same season, and the frost-free period is long. The annual average temperature is between 16.5-18.0 degrees, the annual average frost-free period is more than 300 days, the annual average frost day is 4.2-9.4 days, and the average annual snowfall days is only 1.0-2.7 days. The climate in the southwestern mountainous areas has obvious vertical differences. From the foothills to the foothills, there is a complete climatic zone of the mid-subtropical zone, a warm temperate zone, a temperate zone and a cold temperate zone. The climatic conditions are very complex. It is a region that develops agricultural integrated management and three-dimensional agriculture within the region. Influenced by the monsoon and the uplift of the terrain, the climate is humid and the rainfall is abundant. The average annual precipitation in most areas is above 1000 mm, and the city of Emeishan is more than 1500 mm. Only the E’bian and the Jinkou River are less than 1000 mm. The precipitation has seasonal changes, and the rainfall in summer and autumn accounts for about 80% of the whole year. In winter and spring, only 20%, the annual variation of precipitation is large, the annual minimum precipitation is less than 900 mm, and the maximum annual precipitation in some areas is more than 2000 mm.
You can go to visit Leshan Giant Buddha any time you want, but spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) are the best seasons to visit. Summer (June to Augsut) is also a good time to visit, but the scenic area is usually very crowded due to school summer holidays. Also try to avoid Chinese holidays, such as May Days, National Days, Spring Festivals, etc. if possible.
