Qizanggou or Qizang Valley is a wild place of turquoise lakes, rocky mountains, primitive forest. Qizanggou valley is located next to Huanglong Park near Jiuzhaigou Airport in Ngawa Prefecture in northern Sichuan. It is actually the deep part of Jiuzhaigou Park. Qizanggou Valley has several other valleys including Kaka Valley, Awon VAlley and Hongxing Valley.
Long Lake is located in Kaka Valley. From entrance of Kaka Valley at 3100m to Long Lake at 3800m it is around total 18km walking. Nowadays a part of the walk can be replaced by local car ride. From entrance of Awon Valley at 3500m to Caohai Lake at 3700m it is total around 10km walking. Hongxing Valley is located north to the airport of Jiuzhaigou. From entrance of Hongxing Valley at 3500m to Hongxing Lake at 4200m it is 15km total by walking, before arriving to Hongxing Lake there is a pass that is 4600m. From Long Lake one can walk over a 4200-m pass for 10km to get to Caohai Lake in Awon Valley. From Caohai Lake one can walk for 15km to Hongxing Lake.
A hiking trip to see the lakes is one of the most popular ways to visit Qizhanggou Valley. The best season to visit Qizanggou Valley is from June to October. Comparing to the usually touristy Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong Parks, Qizanggou is a quiet and wild place to explore and visit. Its beauty is hidden far in the mountains. Highlights of the Qizanggou Valley include Long Lake, Hongxing Mountain, Hongxing Lake.
