How to get to Sertar from Mount Siguniang

From Mt. Siguniang to Sertar is a long way about 450km. Usually a shared taxi or to rent a car is going to be expensive. A shared-taxi is probably not available and to rent a car is not cheap. Normally travelers to go to Sertar from Mt. Siguniang are recommended to have stop or stops before arrive in Sertar using public transport. One way is to get to Danba first, and then continue on to Bamei or Dawu(Daofu) and then to Luhuo before use the bus from Luhuo to Sertar. The other way is to get to Barkam (Ma'erkang) first from Mt. Siguniang and then from Barkam to Sertar using bus.

A. From Mt. Siguniang to Sertar using public bus via Danba.This way will take longer time but provides chance for travelers to have one day in Danba to see its beautiful villages and even more to have a possible chance to stay night/nights in Ganzi where it is also interesting and beautiful. Compared to the other route, this way may take up to 5 days before you arrive in Sertar: use public bus or shared taxi to Danba first and then from Danba use a bus to Bamei or Dawu, and then continue use a bus to Luhuo or Ganzi Xian and from there bus to Sertar.

B. From Mt. Siguniang to Sertar using public bus via Barkam.This way is more direct. And compared to the other route you are not going to have chances to see more things along the way as the city of Barkam and Xiajin don't have much to see witin the towns. But it maybe the quikest way to get to Sertar from Siguniang: use shared taxi to go to Maerkang (Barkam ???) first and then from there use the bus to Sertar is the best way. Each morning at 7:20 there is a bus from Barkam Bus Station to Sertar. Ticket costs 58 yuan and it takes around 6 hours. Barkam is a big city in the Tibetan part of Sichuan. A shared taxi is easy to find at Rilong. You can let your hotel owner help you on this. Price unknown. Although a more complicated way of traveling (also money-saving) is to go to Xiaojin first and then use the bus there to go to Barkam. Travelers go to Sertar need to be aware that at present foreigners are now allowed to go in by the local police due to political sensitive issues. The probable case is going to be that you will be told to go back while they do the check at the check point. This is effective from earlier 2016. Travelers who really want to go to Sertar there are of course ways to get in but travel companies are not allowed to make arrangements.
