Siguniang Mountain Scenic Area is located in Siguniang Mountain Town, Xiaojin County, Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. It belongs to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and is 220 kilometers away from Chengdu. Siguniang Mountain is adjacent to Wolong National Nature Reserve. The geographical coordinates are between 102°42?30??-102°58?40?? east longitude and 30°54?16??-31°16?21?? north latitude.
The core attractions of the Siguniang Mountain Scenic Area are Shuangqiaogou, Changpinggou, Haizigou, Mt Siguniang Mountain (Yaomei Peak), Sanguniangshan Mountain (Sanfeng), Erguniangshan Mountain (Erfeng) and Daguniang Mountain (Dafeng). The Siguniang Mountain is steep and the modern glaciers are developing. There are 52 snow peaks above 5000 meters above sea level, with snow all year round and modern mountain glaciers. The main peak of Siguniang Mountain is 6250 meters above sea level. It is the highest peak of the Qionglaishan Mountain Range, the second highest peak in Sichuan and the third highest peak of the Hengduan Mountains. Siguniang Mountain Scenic Area is a world natural heritage, a national scenic spot, a national geological park, a national nature reserve, a world heritage site of Sichuan giant panda habitat, and one of the top ten mountaineering places in China.
Geomorphological features
Siguniang Mountain is located in the eastern step of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the first step of China's landform. It belongs to the transitional zone between the Sichuan Basin and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The geotectonics belongs to the Songpan-Ganzi fold belt in the geodetic trough area of ??China. Alpine Canyon Sub-region, the middle reaches of the Dadu River and the alpine valley. The main landform types are: dry and warm valley (semi-arid valley) landform, alpine landform, and polar alpine landform. The surface of Siguniang Mountain is mainly composed of sandstone, slate, marble, limestone and crystalline limestone of the Mesozoic and Paleozoic.
Climatic characteristics
The Siguniang Mountain Scenic Area has a subtropical monsoon climate. Due to the disparity in topographical heights in the area, the mountain climate changes obviously with the change of altitude. From the Wori Valley in the southwest corner of the reserve to the main peak, a complex vertical climate spectrum is formed, showing temperate zone, cold temperate zone and sub-frigid zone. The climatic band spectrum of the vertical distribution of the cold zone and the permafrost zone. The annual average temperature in the protected area is 5.9 °C, the average temperature of the Siguniang Mountain Peak is 17.1 °C, and the frost-free period is 78 days. The dry and rain season in the area is obvious, the precipitation season and geographical distribution are uneven, and the annual rainfall is 931.5 mm. The sunshine is sufficient, the percentage of sunshine is as high as 51%, and the average annual sunshine hours is 2,265 hours.
Animal resources
There are about 46 species of animals in Siguniang Mountain, belonging to 7 orders and 20 families; 7 species of fish, belonging to 2 orders and 3 families; 74 species of birds, belonging to 3 orders and 27 families. The state protects 31 species of animals, including 11 species of national first-class animals: 7 species of giant pandas, golden monkeys, forest owls, white-lipped deer, takins, leopards, and snow leopards. Birds have scorpion, spotted pheasant, pheasant, There are 4 species of green-tailed rainbow trout; 22 species of national second-class protected animals, including macaques, lynxes, black bears, brown bears, red pandas, yellow-throated hawksbills, sarcophagi, otters, forest owls, red deer, gazelle, rock sheep, etc. The birds are bloody, alpine, scorpion, Tibetan horse, Tibetan snow chicken, gray forest bird, red-bellied horned owl.
