Mount Siguniang Mountain Worship Festival is held on the fourth day of the fifth lunar month every year at Mount Siguniang. In 2020 it is on the date of 24th June; in 2021 it is on the date of 13th of June. The local people gather in groups and go to Chaoshanping, which is 3,600 meters above sea level on Siguniang Mountain to Haizi Valley. During the ceremony, hundreds of local people dress in festive costumes, praying for the Sgula Mountain (Mount Siguniang) through quaint religious ceremonies and joyful folk songs and dances, holding the scriptures, Khata, and pray for good weather, good harvest, and good life.
The ceremony begins at 12 noon. If you want to see this ceremony, it is best to start from the hotel before ten o'clock. Chaoshanping is about 2-3 kilometers away from Rilong Town.
The ceremony includes the following activities.
The Pray
Worship the mountain god and dedicate to the Stupa. The Renpoche cleans up, worships the mountain god, prays for the harvest of the grain and good weather. The Tibetan pray to Siguniang Mountain, and offer the scriptures, Khata, and pray to the Stupa.
The Performance
Guozhuang performance competition: locals will come from the Tibetan villages around Mount Siguniang that are all dressed in festive costumes, and dancing and singing. Other activities include Horse racing, wrestling, tug-of-war competition, folk song and dance performance.
