Summer is the warmest and the wettest season of this part. Note the rain comes at the same time with summer at this part of the world. Summer in Siguniang will still be one of the best seasons to travel to despite the rain because overall the rain is still a lot less than places like Chengdu. On the highland it is generally dry, when we say this is the rainy season it is only compared to its other seasons. Although in some years the rain can be excessive and causing trouble for your visits/hikings. And in the summer the weather forecast is usually not reliable.
June
From second June it enters into summer weather. Normally the mountain passes In June are safe to walk. Local people mark the Duanwu Festival in China as the time of all snow at lower part (below 4500m) would be melted and hence safe to walk on. This festival is usually by either early or middle June. After this festival we think it is already summer time when mountains are green and the monsoon comes, which means more rain. Temperature gets over 20C during daytime and at night temperature is usually above 0C at below 4500m or 4000m. June will still has less rain than July and August according to the historical records of the rainfall in this area.

The mountains are green and maybe the greenest. The weather can be extremely good with sunny days or can also be very rainy. It is the monsoon time of the year. It is also the blooming time of the year when the waters are high and nice and the mountains are alive. Temperature at daytime reaches over 20C and at night it is above 5C to 10C. A camping trip in Mt. Siguniang will be good as it is not cold. At elevation of over 4000 meters, camping is not cold when the temperature is usually at 5C by nigh-t time.

August
According to the past few years’ weather conditions, August is as warm as July and seems to be drier than July. It normally has less rain and better sunny days. Mountains are green and nights are not cold. End of August to September will see a drier window for traveling while the mountains are still green. Please also note in July and August is the busy traveling time in China where you will see a lot of Chinese travelers and hikers.
