Huiyuan Temple is located in Xiede Township, Daofu County, Sichuan Province, and within a small mountain basin 8 kilometers from the provincial highway No. 303 on the road from Bamei to Danba, at an altitude of 3600 meters. It is 89 kilometers from Daofu County, 9 kilometers from Bamei Stone Forest, more than 20 kilometers from Tagong.
In the seventh year of Yongzheng (1729), due to the unstable situation in Tibet, the Qing government asked the seventh Dalai Lama, Kasang Gyatso, to take refuge here. He allocated silver and requisitioned more than 500 acres of land to build temples and palace buildings. The Great Emperor of the Qing Dynasty Emperor Qingyuan gave a huge gold plaque to Huiyuan Temple. Since the time and place of the eleventh Dalai Kezhujiacuo was born here, the Huiyuan Temple has been deeply affected in Tibet since then.
The temple has been rebuilt three times, and the newly built temple is a palace-style gold tile roof, with golden treasure jars, Falun beasts, painted emperors and warlords of all ages, various Thangka paintings, living Buddha statues on the eaves; embossed dragon and lion gates, beams and pillars, spacious courtyard, strict layout; harmonious and decent courtyard. Buildings are luxurious and have local characteristics. The temple now houses many valuable cultural relics. The temple has celebrations for various sacrifice activities for 245 days each year.
