Shangli is an Old Village located in Yaan. It is a cultural and historical village in Sichuan. Shangli is known as a point on the Long March by the former Red Army and also a hub of the Tea-horse Road in ancient times. Constructions in Shangli are mainly made of wood. There is a small river running through the village. Shangli has become of the popular places for art students to come to learn and practice painting.
From Chengya Express Highway it is around 22km drive on good country road. Bifengxia is on the way to Shangli, hence Shangli becomes a good supplement of visitors to Bifengxia. Shangli is located in the green gorges and mountains. Despite the busy part of Bifengxia where you get many visitors and cars the part of Shangli still kept a more old way of living and the ambiance of the old times.
From Chengdu driving takes around 2 hours. From the city of Yaan takes around 40 minutes. From Bifengxia it takes around 15 minutes.
Shangli is very small village from start to end you should see most part of it in about 30 minutes. The main spots of interests in Shangli include Drama Stage, Hanjia Courtyard, Erxian Bridge, etc.
