Bifengxia Panda Base is part of the Bifengxia Park which include also a zoo of other wild animals, a Bifeng Gorge that is also very beautiful. Bifengxia Panda Base is part of the China Giant Panda Protection Center, it was funded by 2003 in Bifengxia of Yaan.
Mengdingshan is a well-made tea plantation in Yaan. It is located 110km southwest to Chengdu and 10km away from the city of Chengdu. Mengding is the origin of tea in China the first place in China ever started to use tea as a drink and planted tea.
Dawa Gengza means "beautiful mountain" in Tibetan. From here one can see around the famous mountains such as Siguniang Mountain in the north, Pagla Mountain in the south, Gongga peaks in the west, Emei Mountain in the east.
Shangli is an Old Village located in Yaan. It is a cultural and historical village in Sichuan. Shangli is known as a point on the Long March by the former Red Army and also a hub of the Tea-horse Road in ancient times.
Mt. Wawu is a nature and tourist park located in Hongya near Yaan near the mountains. It is famous for its rich trees and plant species. Mt. Wawu is located 150km southwest to Chengdu and 55km to Leshan. Wawu is renowned as "Pearl in the Green World".
The Labahe River Scenic Area is a national forest park and nature reserve. The famous scenic spots include Luchi, Red Rock Beach, Yindong Sea, Jiaoshan, and Dujuan Lake.
Niunianping and Jingu Village are two main Tea Plantation villages in Yaan along the highway and easy to get to. As an important tea-horse road city, Yaan is one of the main terminals of the southern Silk Road in ancient China.
Wangyu is probably one of the most authentic old villages in Sichuan. Wangyu Old Street was built in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. The main building is located on a huge boulder protruding from the mountainside.
Jiaoding Mountain is another platform to see big mountains of Minya Konka, similar to Mt. Niubei, Hongyading and Mt. Huajian. Jiaoding Mountain has a flat top and a very good place to see mountains from far away. It is located in 300km southwest to Chengdu and around 6 hours' drive. The altitude by the top is at 3000m and lodges are available, but one can also camp.
In terms of number and density of pandas living in the wild, Ya’an ranks the first in China. Its climate and landscape have provided perfect habitat for giant pandas. Ya’an has over 50% of the panda natural habitat in Sichuan. The first panda was found in 1869 in Baoxing, Ya’an. The Panda Habitat covers places in Baoxing, Tianquan, Lushan, Yingjing and Shimian in Ya’an. The Bifengxia Panda Preservation Center was founded in 2003 and some 20 pandas live there by present. In 2006, Ya’an got an official title of being “the hometown of Giant Pandas” and the date 12th July was honored as the Ya’an Giant Panda Habitat World Natural Heritage Protection Day.
Longcang Valley is s small tourist park in the deep forest of Yaan Yingjing. It is around 3-hour drive from Chengdu and 1.5-hour drive from Yaan. Inside Longcang park there are waterfalls and streams in the forest. Longcang is a very good place to do a half day walk.
