Most of Yaan are four-season places. Yaan is a rainy place. It has the most rain in Sichuan.
The climate of Ya'an is a humid subtropical monsoon climate, mostly in low latitudes. Although the topography is dominated by mountains, most of the elevations are below 3,500 meters, and the relative heights are mostly within 1,500 meters, so there is little difference in vertical changes in most areas. Although it is located inland, it is located in the west corner of the Sichuan Basin, backed by the cold high pressure of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, facing the warm and humid southeast monsoon airflow, so it is rainy in summer. Due to the time when the cold and warm currents converge, the cloud cover is large, and the moisture in the mountain valleys is not easy to disperse, so the relative humidity is high, and the sunshine is low. The high humidity increases the heat capacity of the air and regulates the temperature, so the daily temperature difference is not large. There is a lot of precipitation, a lot of clouds, little sunshine, and the annual temperature range is relatively small. Compared with the domestic cities in the subtropical monsoon area at the same latitude, Yaan is the city with the farthest distance from the sea, the smallest temperature difference, and the most precipitation.
Best time to travel to Yaan is May to October. It has snow by the higher part of mountains. Summer is rainy but lush.
