Accommodations and Food in Yarchen Gar

Accommodation in Yarchen Gar is limited. There is a guesthouse ran by local people called Yarchen Guesthouse is located by the entrance of the compound. It has rooms with beds usually 2 without attached bathrooms. Hot water in thermals are available but not for shower. It is very basic accommodation. However there is a village called Acha which is about 10 km north to Yarchen Gar, where you can find some hotels with modern facilities, attached bathroom, hot shower, etc. Normally travelers will also stay in Ganzi Xian for one or two nights on the trip to Yarchen Gar. But there are plenty of options on accommodations in Ganzi Xian.

The accommodations in Yarchen Gar are quite busy during certain seasons of each year, for example the 100-day meditation ceremony and also during Tibetan new year’s time. But reservations are not available, you need to be there to make the bookings, so there is possibility of booked out, a solution of this is to book the accommodations in the nearby Acha Village when the rooms in Yarchen Gar are booked out.

Food and Restaurants

Local restaurants are plenty in Ganzi Xian. But in Yarchen Gar, the restaurants are very limited. You can find a restaurant in your guesthouse and small other small noodle shops in the village but in the winter time these shops may not be available. Shops selling water, simple snacks and ramens are also available but there are no big shopping places in Yarchen Gar.
