Yarchen Gar is closed to foreign visitors since 2019. Foreigners who wish to visit Yarchen Gar need to change your plan. Dates for reopening is unknown.
Foreigners are unoffically noticed not allowed to visit Yarchen Gar (Yarchen Buddhist School). Pirate trip to visit Yarchen Gar is still possible.
As a company we can’t organize tours there for foreigners. But we know people who has experience who can take foreigners there on pirate visit. Anyone who wish to go there may contact the following people: Li Hai (chengdutourguide@163.com), or Jinshan (wechat: 13689094250) to check if they can take you to Larung Gar and show you the back door to visit the school. We do not recommend you to do pitate trips to Yarchen Gar.
A pirate trip will involve driving in early morning, walking for hours up to the mountain, and will still have risks of being told to go back but will have much lower chance of so than if you are going there unguided.
Resident from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan are okay to visit Yarchen Gar People from these places need to go to the police station of Yarchen to register first and then go in.
