Nyenpo Yurtse (Lianbao Yeze) Travel Guide
Nyenpo Yurtse is also called Lianbao Yeze or Nianbao Yuze, a geological park with dozens of beautiful lakes and amazing rocky mountains. Nyenpo Yurtse(Lianbao Yeze) is located 620km north west to Chengdu and 600km south to Xining at the border between Sichuan and Qinghai Province at Suohu Rima Xiang in Golog Prefecture of Qinghai. It is believed by local Golog Tibetans to be their origin place and a glory of the King Gesar. The highest point of Nyenpo Yurtse is 5369 meters above sea level and it is also the highest point of Bayan Har Mountains, the separation of Yangtze and Yellow River in China. Nyenpo Yurtse(Lianbao Yeze) covers an area of 8spkm and is called “the rock mountains” by local Tibetan people. It was listed as a national geological park due to its uniquely-formed mountains and rocks. The altitude of Nyenpo Yurtse is over 4000 meters and the number of lakes is believed to be over 300 including the big ones Ximen Co, Rigan Co, etc.Update: Nyenpo Yurtse (Qinghai Part) is closed for visitors from 2018 in Qinghai Province due to environment concerns. All camping and hiking in Qinghai part of Lianbao Yeze are banned from local authority due to environment reasons while Sichuan Part of Lianbao Yeze remians open for visitors and hikers. Travelers planning going there please be aware of this. You may be told to turn back when you try to go in from Qinghai Province (north and west). However camping and hiking are available in Sichuan Province from east and south entrances.
Lianbao Yeze Mountains
The official park of Lianbao Yeze is open all year round for visitors. One can drive into the park on very good road into the park of Lianbao Yeze. Note this is the park in Sichuan Province not the one in Qinghai which is closed since 2018 due to environment issues. Nyenpo Yurtse Sichuan Part (Lianbao Yeze Park). Lianbao Yeze was thought to one of the most underrated places in China.
Hiking is the best way to see the beauty of Lianbao Yeze. While the part in Qinghai Province is shut off but the part in Sichuan remains open and there are a lot to see in Sichuan side. You may consider to do short day hikes by Zhagartso (Lianbao Yeze Park) or a long day hike by Zhumtso in the wild part of Lianbao Yeze. Since 2023 we have been re-exploring Lianbao Yeze and had discovered many beautiful hikes and places inside Lianbao Yeze. Explore Nyenpo Yurtse
Nyenpo Yurtse (Lianbao Yeze) is one of the least explore places in Tibet (Tibetan Qinghai and Tibetan Sichuan) located far from any big cities in China. The unique rock mountains and the many lakes, along with the Golog Tibetan yak ranches have become one of the most beautiful expeditions in Tibetan Sichuan and Qinghai. Nyenpo Yurtse Trek Journal. Hiking
One can do short day hikes by Zhagartso (Lianbao Yeze Park) and Zhumtso or consider multi-day trek in the wild part of Lianbao Yeze. The multi-day trek is neither "famous" nor easy. It is for those who want to explore and want to see views no one has seen.

The high point of Nyenpo Yurtse is also called Mt. Nyenpo Yurtse. It is 5369 meters above sea level and it is a low technical mountain. There are also many beautiful rocks and walls have never been climbed before.

Road Trip Sichuan to Qinghai/Gansu
A road trip from Sichuan Province to Qinghai/Gansu Province or the other way round is a trip of a lifetime. It takes up to 2 weeks to see the wildest land of Tibet and the most unexplored places on earth including Nyenpo Yurtse (Lianbao Yeze). Travel Season
June and July are the flower season of Lianbao Yeze when the land is covered with the yellow blooming flowers. However this is also the monsoon season here that weather can be foggy. The seasons good for travel is from May to October when it is not too cold. July and August are the warmest time of the year in Lianbao Yeze. A drier time would be from September to October when the weather becomes stable.
Accommodation and Food
Normally a trip to Lianbao Yeze is based from Aba County, a town with decent hotels and restaurants. There is only basic and very limited accommodation available at near the park of Lianbao Yeze. The guesthouse available at near the park are basic bunks without attached bathroom nor hot water for shower. If you are looking for comfortable accommodations, you need to drive back to Aba Xian where you can find hotels with modern facilities. Camping is not allowed inside the park of Lianbao Yeze.

Planning Ideas
The best way to travel to Lianbao Yeze is probably an overland trip between Xining/Lanzhou and Chengdu or a Circuit Driving Tour from Chengdu to include Jiuzhaigou and Zoige Grassland. Trekking trip in Lianbao Yeze takes 7-9 days.
