Kangding is the frontier town between traditional China and Tibet. It is located 300km west to capital city Chengdu of Sichuan Province. Kangding is the capital city of Ganzi Tibetan Prefecture. Kangding is one of the biggest cities in traditional Tibetan area. Historically it was an important business center between China and Tibet on the Tea-horse-road. Datseto is the former name of Kangding. Kangding is the center of Kham Tibet, a religious, economy center of this part of Sichuan.

Mugetso
Mugetso is a nature park near Kangding. It is 20km north to the town of Kangding. It is a paradise composed of alpine lakes, forests, snow-capped mountains and river gorge. Mugetso is a very nice place to visit while traveling in Kangding. A Visit to Mugetso takes about half day. Tourist buses are available in the park although you can do some hikings there too.
Gonggashan
Mount Gongga is a 7556-meter mountain and the easternmost 7-thousander on earth. It is sometimes called Minya Konka, the same as the name of the range itself. Minya is the name of how the local Tibetan people call themselves: Minya Tibetans. Konka means big white mountain. Mount Gongga is also a holy mountain in local Buddhist culture. Mount Gongga can be seen from Hailuogou Glacier Park at Camp 4 from its east, Zimei Pass and Yaha Pass from its west, Kangding Airport from its north.
Mount Yala and Tagong Grassland
If you look to do some hiking in Kangding, then this is the one. From Kangding to Mount Yala and the into Tagong, primitive, not spoiled and most importantly, it is beautiful. The hiking is in the valleys of primitive landscape and beautiful lakes and mountains. It ends in Tagong, a Buddhist town of Kham with stunning Buddhist constructions and interesting local Tibetan people. This is truly an adventure into the wild Sichuan.

Kangding
Kangding is the No. one Tibetan town of Kham Tibet / eastern Tibet. It is now a half Tibetan and half Chinese. Kangding in China is more famed by the song “the Love Song of Kangding”, however it is the most important stopover place for travelers who go further west.

Gonggashan is a group of big mountains south to Kangding town. It is one of the most popular hiking places in China. It provides excellent views and experiences with its big glaciers, snow-capped mountains, alpine valleys and local Tibetan nomads people.

Mount Yala is a 5820-meter mountain in north Kangding north to Mugetso. It is a holy mountain for local people for its resemblance of a lotus flower, which is a holy flower in Tibetan belief. Tagong Grassland is a rolling land of prairies roamed by Tibetan nomads people. Tagong has many Buddhist schools and it is a religious center of Kham people.
